••• Version 1.0.1 fixes a minor bug involving applications that put up modal dialogs while they are in the background. (Which is completely egregious, and we resent having to hack around it. :-)

Okey Dokey presses the default button in modal dialogs after a time limit.

This is something that we have wanted to have for a long time. Have you ever typed command-P then tromped across campus to pick up your nice 300dpi output, only to wait and wait and wait while nothing comes out of the printer? When you return to your office, there's your mac, politely asking how many copies you would like.
This is a little INIT/CDEV that automatically chooses the default button in a modal dialog box after a specified amount of time. The control panel lets you set the time and specify if you want a little countdown display in the lower lefthand corner of the modal dialog box. It effects only MODAL dialog boxes that use the system trap ModalDialog. (This means that Okey Dokey won't work with some applications the do stupid things) We have specifically disabled Okey Dokey in the Standard File Dialog, because it makes no sense to automatically open the first item in the list.
Okey Dokey is entirely, absolutely free, though we retain all rights to it. We are doing this because we are really nice guys, and because we want every Mac on the planet to be running it. Give it away to your friends, post it on bulletin boards, send it to your mom, we don't care. Just be sure to include this document with it.
Okey Dokey works by patching about a skillion things in the ToolBox with self-modifying code. Not.
Actually, it is a simple patch on _ModalDialog, with a jGNEFilter to do the dirty work. It has been thoroughly tested for over TWENTY MINUTES! We have run it on PB140's, Quadra's, IIfx's, and an HP28S, all running System 7. Although there is absolutely no reason why Okey Dokey _shouldn't_ run under System 6, we have no 6 machines to test it on, so we're not sure.
Although he doesn't know it, Steve Falkenburg's OkOkOk '91 MacHack hack provided the impetus (and even some of the code...). We also snarfed code from a variety of other sources, and even wrote some of our own!
